Overview
Kara joined AHP in 2023 through the firm’s merger with Makela, Toutant, Hill, Nardi & Katona, P.C., bringing with her nearly two decades of prior public accounting experience since beginning her career in 2005. She focuses on taxation and planning for individuals, trusts, and estates, guiding clients through complex compliance requirements and long‑term financial strategies. Kara also assists fiduciaries during the trust and estate settlement process and provides expertise in gift and estate planning.
Within AHP, Kara serves on the Tax Committee, contributing to the firm’s technical excellence and consistent service delivery. She is also an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).
Professional Education
Kara graduated summa cum laude from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting/computer information systems.
In the Community
Kara serves as Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Superior Health Foundation and chairs its Finance and Audit Committee. She is a member of the Economic Club of Marquette County and previously served with United Way of Marquette County.
