Action Required: Michigan Employers Need to Set up Their MiUI Accounts

Share

The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) is transitioning to a new online system called MiUI, which will replace the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). The transition already happened for many unemployment tax functions, and the benefits portion of the system is scheduled to launch on November 9, 2026.

If your business has not yet established its own MiUI employer account, please make this a priority and begin the process immediately. This applies to all Michigan employers, including those who rely on AHP to handle their unemployment tax filings.

Why Is Your Own MiUI Account Important?

Many AHP clients have authorized AHP as their third-party administrator (TPA), allowing us to access their unemployment accounts and handle applicable filing and payment responsibilities. However, having AHP set up as your TPA does not eliminate your responsibility to establish and maintain your own employer account.

Your MiUI employer account provides access to important employer-specific functions, including reviewing unemployment benefit claims, responding to claims, filing protests and appeals when appropriate, and managing the permissions granted to AHP or other payroll tax providers.

When the benefits portion of MiUI launches, employers will need their own account access to manage these activities and ensure their authorized representatives have the appropriate permissions.

Even if AHP can currently access your account and file your quarterly reports, your business will still need to complete its own account setup. Our ability to file your returns does not replace your responsibility to maintain your employer account.

What Do You Need to Do?

The steps you need to take depend on whether you currently have access to your MiWAM account.

If You Have Access to MiWAM

  1. Retrieve your MiUI activation code.

Log in to your existing MiWAM account and locate your eight-digit MiUI activation code. You will need this code to establish your employer account in MiUI.

  1. Set up your MiLogin for Business account.

MiUI is accessed through MiLogin for Business. You can use your existing account or create one if needed. Your former MiWAM user ID cannot be used as your MiLogin for Business login.

  1. Activate your MiUI employer account.

Follow the state's instructions to complete your employer account registration.

  1. Review your account information and AHP's permissions.

Verify that your employer information is accurate and that AHP has the appropriate access and role assignments to continue providing the services we perform on your behalf.

If You Do Not Have a MiWAM Account or Cannot Obtain Your Activation Code

If you cannot access your existing MiWAM account, first try the state's account recovery options. If you are unable to recover your login information, email MiWAMSupport@michigan.gov for assistance.

If you do not have a MiWAM account or cannot obtain your activation code, contact the UIA Office of Employer Ombudsman at 1-855-484-2636 (select Option 4) or email OEO@michigan.gov.

AHP cannot obtain your activation code or establish your MiUI employer account on your behalf. This is a step that you, as the employer, must complete. Please contact the UIA as soon as possible if you need assistance.

For detailed instructions, visit the state's Moving from MiWAM to MiUI guidance.

Important Dates: Do Not Wait Until November

The UIA has announced the following transition schedule:

  • November 2, 2026, at 4:30 p.m.: MiWAM will become permanently unavailable. Employers should retrieve their MiUI activation codes before this deadline.
  • November 9, 2026, at 8 a.m.: The benefits portion of MiUI launches, bringing unemployment tax and benefits functions together in the new system.

Because these deadlines are approaching quickly, we strongly encourage you to complete your account setup as soon as possible.

If you have questions about AHP's role as your third-party administrator, please contact our office. For assistance with registration, activation codes, or login issues, please use the UIA resources listed above.
