John has 30 years of public accounting experience and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His areas of expertise include tax compliance and planning, business sale and acquisition, reviews, and compilations for small closely held businesses in various industries including Restaurant & Hospitality, Wineries, Health Care Services, Construction, and various other industries
John joined HBK (formally Schepers & Hofstra, PC) as a Staff Accountant in 1997, promoted to Manager in 2008 and became a Partner in 2019. John joined AHP when it merged with HBK in 2025.
John earned a Bachelor of Applied Science – Accountancy from Ferris State University
John is a member of the AICPA and MICPA. John was also a former Treasurer of Habitat for Humanity -Grand Traverse Region and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Traverse City.
