Matthew P. Stedry earns honors as SVSU’s 2009 outstanding senior in accounting.

SAGINAW, Mich., May 19, 2009—Andrews Hooper & Pavlik (AHP) is excited to announce Matthew P. Stedry has been named Saginaw Valley State University’s 2009 outstanding senior in accounting.

Stedry was one of two students selected by the faculty of SVSU’s accounting department for the 2009 distinguished graduate award. He was honored on April 30, 2009, during the annual Honors Convocation held at SVSU’s Curtis Hall.

“He was an ideal student who acted as a role model for his classmates through professionalism, a willingness to motivate others, and his energy and intellectual curiosity,” said Lawrence Kickham, professor of accounting at SVSU. “Some students may be tempted to take a short cut when learning some material. That was not Matt’s strategy. He knew that accounting was going to be his career.”

Stedry joined AHP as a staff accountant in January. He earned a Bachelor of Professional Accountancy degree from Saginaw Valley State University in 2008.

SVSU’s accounting department has a demonstrated track record of preparing students very well to enter the profession, and Matt is a fine example of that,” said William Mulders, partner at AHP. “We are pleased that Matt has been recognized as a distinguished graduate by SVSU.”

Stedry is a Bridgeport native and currently lives in Saginaw.
